To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the large scale omnimedia event Singing for the Motherland China: One City One Song held by CCTV, China IPTV and regional IPTV platforms, has aroused positive responses from all walks of life. Since October 27th, CCTV-9 started to play 17 musical story videos during the evening prime time show. The Haikou City’s song "Long Time No See Long Time to See" gala edition will air on CCTV and China IPTV.
Guests from the 9th episode and the 6th episode of Foreigners in Hainan video program, which is produced by Hainan International Media Centre (HIMC), Eddie Mills and Randy Floyd, who are also the Overseas Communication Officers of HIMC, were invited to join the program recording in Beijing in September, 2019. The gala edition of “Long Time No See Long Time to See” was jointly performed by Su Yunying, Kristian Kostov (Russian),and Mr. and Mrs. Mills.
The event selected 70 representative songs of different cities with local characteristics, historic background and touching memories to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
HIMC Overseas Communication Officer Eddie Mills said after the recording of the gala, "Thanks to Foreigners in Hainan program to let everyone get to know my story and my career. I love Hainan. I love China!”
As one of the first batch of Overseas Communication Officers of HIMC, Eddie Mills has been supporting the education of minority group areas in Hainan for many years. He has recommended nearly 100 foreign experts to Hainan to engage in education and teaching activities. He has founded a non-profit educational institution – IEEA aka International Education Exchange Association, through which more than 300 international students were introduced to Hainan to support the development of Hainan minority group area English education. In September 2004, Eddie Mills was awarded the "National Friendship Award" by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of the People's Republic of China. On January 9, 2007, he became one of the first foreign experts in Hainan to obtain a permanent residence permit. In July 2019, Eddie Mills was hired as one of the first batch of Overseas Communication Officer of HIMC, and taken the responsibility of telling the story of Hainan to the world.

Randy Floyd came to China as an English teacher in 2012 and was engaged in the management of foreign teachers' team. He had planned to stay in China for only one or two years. Fortunately he met his Chinese wife, and then they had a lovely son Draven. In April of 2019, he registered the company Haikou Tongbangchang Foreign Language Education Consulting Co., Ltd in Hainan. He was also very honored to be able to participate in the recording of this event.
As an important platform for sharing Hainan's stories with the world, Hainan International Communication Center is committed to create a comprehensive media platform integrating communication, service and friendship liaison with the aim of “connecting China and foreign countries, communicating with the world and sharing Hainan with the world”. The platform has formed a group of foreign language editors and reporters with overseas background, as well as a group of guest foreign hosts and overseas communication officers from more than ten countries around the world.
Foreigners in Hainan is a series of video programs produced by HIMC through interviewing with foreign friends working, studying and living in Hainan. This series focuses on how they are chasing their dreams in Hainan. Foreigners in Hainan is the first Chinese-English bilingual online video program in Hainan.
